William A. Draves

William A. Draves is known around the world for his research, writing, teaching and speaking on the subject of teaching.  He has keynoted education conferences in Japan, Australia, Russia, Europe and throughout Canada and the United States. 
 
Draves is the author of How to Teach Adults, first published in 1984, now in its Fourth Edition. It is the most popular book on teaching adults, having sold more than 100,000 copies.  He is also author of Advanced Teaching Online, first published in 2000, now in its Fourth Edition. With Julie Coates he is the co-author of The Pedagogy of the 21st Century. He has taught more than 8,000 faculty and instructors how to teach online. 

He holds a Masters Degree in Adult Education from The George Washington University in Washington DC, and has studied under some of the most influential and important adult educators of the last century, including Malcolm Knowles and Jerry Apps.  He served as President of the Coalition of Lifelong Learning Organizations (COLLO). Draves currently is an adjunct professor for the adult and higher education graduate program at the University of South Dakota, and teaches a course on gender in the classroom with graduate credit offered by Framingham State University. 

Draves has been interviewed by national media on education, including The New York Times, BBC, NPR, NBC Nightly News, Wall Street Journal, Advertising Age, Kiplingers, and other national media.  With Julie Coates he co-wrote the 2003 classic Nine Shift: Work, life and Education in the 21st Century in which they predicted the rise of online learning.
